Free · Nothing to fill in first

Your Google listing has a grade. You have never seen it.

Type your business name. In about fifteen seconds you see your letter, the letters of the three businesses Google shows for your trade from your own address, and the rows they fill in that you do not. No form, no email, no PDF.

Ontario trades and local services. The name is sent to our server to look the listing up, and nowhere else.

Georgian Bay SEO · listing scorecard

Your card appears here.

Type the business name above. We read your listing and the three above you straight from Google Maps, then mark all four the same way.

Where this comes from: public fields on Google Maps, read through SearchAPI at the moment you ask. One search for your primary category, run from your own address on a phone-sized map. Google rounds nothing here, but the three move with the searcher, so the card names its time and place.

How the grade is marked

Seven rows, ten points, the same scheme for you and for the three above you. Nine or ten is an A. Five is a C+. Every row is something Google shows the public and you can change this week.

Row Points Marking
Reviews, last 90 days 3 0 = 0 · 1 to 2 = 1 · 3 to 5 = 2 · 6 or more = 3
Posts, last 90 days 2 0 = 0 · 1 = 1 · 2 or more = 2
Rating with 20+ reviews 1 4.5 or better with at least 20 reviews
Hours filled in 1 any hours set
Website linked 1 a website on the listing
Primary category matches the search 1 the listing's primary category is the trade searched
Two or more categories 1 at least two categories listed

A = 9 to 10 · A- = 8 · B+ = 7 · B = 6 · C+ = 5 · C = 4 · D+ = 3 · D = 2 · F = 0 to 1. Photos and services are not marked because Google does not show them to the public.

Questions

Where does the grade come from?

From seven public fields on your Google Business Profile: reviews and posts in the last 90 days, your rating, hours, website, primary category and the number of categories. The marking scheme is printed under the grade. Ten points is an A. It is a mark on what Google shows the public, not a claim about why anyone ranks.

Who are the three businesses?

The three Google put in the Map Pack when we searched your primary category, for example "plumber", from your own address, on a phone-sized map, at the time printed on the card. Google weighs relevance, distance and prominence together, so move the searcher a few streets and the three can change.

Why are some rows grey?

Google does not show photo counts, service lists or descriptions to anyone outside the business, so we cannot read them for you or for the three. Grey means unreadable. It never means zero.

Why does a review count have a plus after it?

We count reviews on the newest page Google serves. If every review on that page is inside the last 90 days, the true count is higher than the page shows, so we print the page count with a plus rather than guess.

Is my business name sent anywhere?

It is sent to our own server, which looks the listing up on Google Maps and sends the card back. Nothing is stored about you unless you ask for the fixes at the bottom, and then only the contact you typed. We do not publish anyone's card.

What happens if I ask for the fixes?

Lasse reads your card and sends one message, email or text, with the red rows in the order to do them. There is no sequence and no list you are added to.
