Pick your trade and your town

Two taps. The report is on this page, it updates as you choose, and nothing you tap is sent anywhere.

Your trade

Your town

Pick a trade and a town to see the report.

Where this comes from: search volumes are Google's own estimates for that exact phrase, pulled through DataForSEO for Canada, in English, for the month named in the table. Google rounds them, so two near-identical phrases often report the same figure. That is why this page never adds the rows together. The Map Pack was read on September 18, 2026 from a mobile search run at each town's coordinates.

How to read your report

The biggest phrase

One phrase almost always carries most of the demand in a town, and it is usually the plain one: the trade and the town, nothing clever. That is the phrase worth being visible for before any other.

Why the long phrases still matter

The smaller rows, the emergency and the repair phrases, carry less volume and more intent. Someone searching "emergency furnace repair" at nine at night is not comparing five companies. They are calling the first one that answers.

No estimate

Some towns show no estimate for any phrase. That is Google declining to report a number below its own threshold, not a market with nobody in it. Smaller towns behave this way and it changes the plan rather than ending it.

What to do in a small town

Be visible in the nearest town that does carry volume, and make sure your service area and your page copy say plainly that you cover both. Read the service area business definition for what Google will and will not let you claim there.

The three businesses

These are the businesses Google put in the Map Pack for the biggest phrase, with their rating and review count, on one date, from one spot in town. They are not ranked by quality and they are not fixed. Move the searcher a few kilometres and the three can change.

Why the list moves

Google weighs relevance, distance and prominence together, so proximity to the searcher is part of the result and not a fault in your listing. The proximity ranking factor explained covers what that does and does not mean for a service business.

Want your own business checked against these searches?

The report above is about the market. This is the part about you: whether you appear for these phrases, where you sit against the three above, and the first things that would change it. Optional, and the report stays on the page whether or not you fill it in.

Questions

Where do these numbers come from?
Google's own keyword planner data, served through DataForSEO. They are Google's estimates of how often that exact phrase is searched in a month, across Canada, and Google rounds them into buckets. They are not a headcount and not a promise of calls.
Why do two phrases show the same number?
Because Google puts near-identical phrases in one rounded bucket and reports the bucket for each. That is also why this page never adds the rows together. Adding them would invent demand that is not there.
My town says there is no estimate. Does nobody search for me?
No. It means the volume sits under the level Google reports, which is common for smaller towns. People still search. It does tell you something useful: in a town that small, ranking for the town phrase alone will not fill a week, and the nearby larger town is usually where the volume is.
Who are the three businesses you show?
The Map Pack Google returned for the biggest phrase, on a mobile search run from that town's coordinates, on the date printed under the table. Positions move by the day and by where the searcher stands, so treat it as one measurement and not a league table.
Is this the same as the free audit?
No. This page is about the market: what gets searched and who Google is showing. The audit is about one business. If you want yours checked against these searches, the form under the table does that.
Does searching mean someone will call me?
Not on its own. A search becomes a call when you are one of the businesses Google shows, and the profile it shows gives someone a reason to pick you. That is two separate jobs, and this page only measures the first one.
